  • Hi there!
USB Backup batteries for Portable power supply
« on: March 18, 2014, 08:11:08 pm »
I got tired of trying to find a good bare lithium ion batteries with a connector in ebay. However, searching through amazon I found loads of cheap yet powerful battery banks. Here's one that I've been eyeing for a while:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CEZJT2E/
It is intended for charging smartphones but the brief specs were perfect for my project, except all the meaty details were hidden from view. Does anyone know the ripple of these USB Backup supplies? If there are a lot of ripples, then what are the solutions? Throw in bunch of Tantalums? Insert a voltage regulator?

EDIT:
Note: My circuit contains an STM32F4 uC and precision ADC and Analog Front end. I was thinking that the ripple would pollute the sub uV signal. Will tantalums solve the issue? Please let me know!

Thanks as always everyone!

I have an Anker Astro3e, and am back in the lab at uni tomorrow. If I have a chance I'll get a scope on it and let you know!
