what does the capacitor do
« on: April 12, 2014, 10:24:34 pm »
I'm trying to build a pre amplifier for my raspberry pi. I've been looking into amplifiers.
In the designs I've studied they always have a capacitor in series with the input. Is this just what is called a blocking capacitor? So it's used to remove the dc component away from the audio signal right?

See the following video, from about 6:00 :

Maybe it will help.  Basically yes, it has to do with blocking dc signal.
