What is a Child Board :-//?
The funniest thing about this signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything its too late to stop reading it.

It's when you have forum boards categorised  so say the MCU section was categorised, each section would be a "child board" of the main section

Makes sense a moderator would reply about boards in a forum... but I think the OP might've been referring to PCBs, in which case a child board is a smaller board that's plugged into a motherboard.

can even be used to refer to a mod board, where the designers removed an IC and fitted a pcb on legs in place to modify the function, i've seen this many times with older digital panel meters,

It is the Politically Correctâ„¢ term for "daughter-board"*.

* I only use the term "daughter-board" for illustrative purposes. No SEXISM should be inferred from that usage.
