Where to Get a T-Con Board?
« on: August 15, 2017, 02:52:13 am »
Hi,

I have an LG LCD TV (made in 2008). The display isn't working properly - the picture is still present however it has a white overlay (cant' think of a better way to describe it). I suspect the T-Con board has failed so I'd like to try replacing it before the TV goes into the e-waste.

There are many T-Con boards available on ebay and I've contacted one seller however they haven't gotten back to me. Just wondering if anyone here can recommend a reputable ebay seller for these products?

Cheers,

Chris

I haven't done a lot of this type of repair, since most people tend to junk a problematic set, but I can't really offer you anything more than researching a seller's feedback could tell you.

While you would probably be aware, just make sure you get a compatible board.  Board number is important, obviously, but the Revision can be as well.

The problem you seem to be trying to explain is a solarized picture.

Just buy it from eBay or Shopjimmy. If you get the part number right, you'll probably get a good board. Most of the boards on eBay are pulled from broken panels. I know a fair amount of the parts sellers on eBay if you want to run some names by me...but really, there shouldn't be a problem if you have the part number right and verify the correct number on the auction picture. Some part numbers can be confusing so you want to make sure they didn't make a mistake just to save the hassle, eBay covers you over a bad or incorrect part.

I can't find the exact model on ebay. It's a:

32LG50FD-AD television

and the T-Con board is a:

T315HW01 VO CTRL BD

I've attached an image.

I just want to make sure that I get the right board.

Cheers,

Chris

I'd be interested in what's on that white sticker at centre top.  It might have a searchable number on it.

I'd check the gamma buffer(s) to see if their outputs are correct. This is a common failure mode in some LCD TVs.

Hi Folks,

I'm pleased to report that I replaced the T-Con board and the TV is now working.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers,

Chris
