Which capacitor value is D5-U1 ?
« on: January 02, 2018, 08:37:04 pm »
Hi All,

I must say I am confused to ask for this, but I need to be sure.

I have a B32922 X2 MKP/SH capacitor  from TDK.

It is written "D5-U1 M 305V "

Which  value is it ?

PS : I cannot just measure it, as it is   broken.

https://en.tdk.eu/inf/20/20/db/fc_2009/X2_B32921_928.pdf

Quote
Marking
Manufacturer's logo, lot number,
date code, rated capacitance (coded),
cap. tolerance (code letter),
rated AC voltage,
series number, sub-class (X2),
dielectric code (MKP), climatic category,
passive flammability category, approvals.

So, with that and looking at the example markings in the pdf:
D5 is probably a date code.
U1 (it's probably the micro symbol if you look close), with the U serving as a decimal point = 0.1 uF
M tolerance = 20% I think
305V = rated AC voltage

At least , that's my guess.

The full marking is

logo 2111445634 C
D5-U1 M 305V ~

So I suppose  2111445634 is the date code

It is "D5" which confuses me

Otherwise,  U1 may well be 0.1uF  .  It would fit with the size and possible values ( 0.033uF to 0.68uF).

Now I see that the  "U"1 is just "mu"1
as here
https://fr.rs-online.com/web/p/condensateurs-polypropylene/1248412/

So it is well 0.1 uF.

and D5 is  probably a date code as you said.

I found a reference that TDK uses  IEC 60062 on caps, so this would seem to fit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_and_digit_code#Production_date_code

So D5 would be May, 2013 under that system. (Or 1993 or 1973)
