Which Old Fluke?
« on: February 20, 2013, 03:52:41 am »
Hi guys firstly sorry i did a search but haven't found anything of use.

I am looking at a couple of secondhand flukes and not sure which would be better suited for electronics. They are the 27 of the 77 both seem to be in ok condition.

I am just trying to set up a basic home lab as for the next few years i will have access to the labs at uni.

Thanks in advance Damien

Hi,

If you have to chose, I would chose the Fluke 27. This is an industrial strength multimeter.
You will probably need more than one so try making an offer on both.

These will give you basic functionality. Neither will measure capacitance.

Thanks Jay

Should mention that i have a cheapy to use as my second meter although am thinking about one of these they seem to get decent reviews on the forums  Uni-T UT61E

would the 27 and this see me through?

I have watched the blog and think it would.

The 77 does not measure low currents.
I'd go for the 27, wider range, longer battery life, and more accurate than the (older) 77.
