The other day I bought a USB charger from the pound shop and took it to my room and it seemed very good probably better than any other one I have seen.
-
I really hope you're kidding.
-
:-DD
-
The close proximity of those mains wires to the USB port scares the shit out of me.
You see they'd rather go after copyright infringers in the UK than the mere act of importing cheap mains connected junk from china that is potentially lethal.
-
Did you take those photos with a piece of soap in a dark room?
-
Ño I'm not kidding it was only a pound shop one and I had no light in my room at the time.
-
How is this blog specific?
I dont mean to be rude.....but whats your experience in electronics? If your standard for quality electronics is spending 1 pound, we may have just found your problem. :-DD

Come on guys, look at his avatar, he's clearly like 8 years old. That said, even 8-yo-timb knew to turn on the fucking lights before taking a picture. Take a better picture and we'll point out what's wrong.

No......in that case 50% of the threads would be in this forum. >:D

Which is why the internet is a poor place to learn how to deal with people.... :-DD

What a moronic way to greet a young member of the forum.
Arlen - no worries, we all learn along the way. It is the best to take pictures in natural daylight, because light comes from all directions so shadows are minimal and because typical cameras work best in daylight. In a room fluorescent daylight bulbs work well too but you may need to find a good spot where to place the object so it is lit evenly. Camera flash can be used but it may be tricky especially when making pictures of small electronics. Still can be done after some practice.
I started with electronics when I was 12 years old, so I do not see any problem with your age.

Helpful life lesson: if you hear someone swear, especially in writing, know that he's not smart enough to communicate effectively. There are exceptions to this where swearing communicates the point best, or when trying to imitate someone who swears. These are rare exceptions though.
Thanks for the pictures! Those are a little scary. :D

It's called a colloquialism, bitch. ;)
Assuming someone swears just because they're too stupid to know big words is in and of itself stupid.
"Fuck" is the most versatile word in the English language! It's a verb, a noun, an adjective, an adverb, a modifier... The ways in which it can be used are endless.
You're obviously of an older generation, but trust me, I'm sure the OP hears it every day at school.
Besides, this is an adult forum. Adults swear.

I believe Dave has said this is an adult forum. Kids are welcome, of course, but it's not geared towards them. Dave swears as well. I swear. The OP is 12, I assure you he hears much worse every day at school.

Where does it say it is an adult forum?
The part where it's on the Internet.
Would you send your kid loose, unattended, in the city center and expect him not to hear something "adult"? Same thing here.

You must think the world is just full of idiots, then.
The view's nice from up here, by the way. :-+

Welcome to the forum Arlen.
As others have pointed out, that charger is a little scary. Why? Because it's poorly designed. Safety is a huge concern. Non-genuine and cheap chargers like that can cause fires, seriously injure and even kill people. They might not straight away but if something goes wrong with them, they can be lethal. They are cheap for a reason. As a beginner in electronics, when it comes to anything that plugs into a power point, a good rule of thumb is always buy genuine. Genuine charges have to meet strict safety standards before they are allowed to be sold.
Dave posted a very good video about some fake Apple chargers a few years ago. It's well worth a watch if you haven't already. You might even spot some similarities between them and the one you bought.

I think you misjudge me. If we met in person I'm sure you would understand.
I've said things in public via the internet since the early 90s, well before the web. What I learned as I matured is to say things under my name rather than using a "handle." That way I must stand by what I say, or be properly embarrassed by what I say. What I say is who I am.

Where does it say it is an adult forum?
Not all adults swear and those that do may not swear all the time. They may take some regard of the audience and show some respect for them until they can determine if swearing would be welcomed or just tolerated or frowned upon.
