I've never had more than 1.6KV of batteries in series on my bench, and that was a *LONG* time ago.  It was 18 date expired Mil. surplus BDA-602 90V HT batteries wired in series in a wooden tray.

You mean stacking them in layers? That would be a bad idea.

In a straight string though? Should be perfectly OK so long as your bench/floor is 100% non-conducting.

It depends:  If the PP3's got clear heatshrink over the metal jacket, no problem, but if its only screenprinted ink and maybe a coat of lacquer you are risking a lot of trouble.   You can easily have hundreds of volts between strings and insulating separators are essential.

My tray of BDA-602 batteries were arranged in three strings of 6, with hot wax impregnated wooden slats between the strings.

This is starting to get off topic regarding batteries.

I would like to see Dave do a summary of the previous 999 videos and things that have happened since he started.  For example he did not like the PICkit 3 but that was 5 years ago, maybe things have changed and maybe he likes it now?  Another example he gave a good review of the Tek 2225 but got rid of it - why?

Another suggestion - he could ask for questions and then talk about them in the 1000th video.  But regardless I think it should be special.  How about a drunken Dave - might be funny

What about something simpler and more ergonomic?  A 1000V DC BOFH style cattle prod.  Take 336 CR2032 cells and stack them in a 21mm ID plastic tube. Easiest to tape them in 1" tall stacks of 8 so they don't flip as you slide them in.  It will be just over 1m long.    (336 cells so we dont end up under-voltage  )

Another suggestion -  A $1,000 lab setup.  I think  you would get a lot of views on this.  Follow Nuts and Bolts rules (they have a $200 contest going on):

- no used  (Please !)
- no eBay
- no Amazon from Chinese sellers

ie legit sales only that someone could buy today from legit sellers or better yet to your Amazon store (you have one right ?).  I am sure many would support you this way.

You could make it only items that Techequipment sells (or you) and I guess you have already done a review on most items if not all and you could cut and paste in some stuff from those videos.
You might be able to get Techequipment to go along with you somehow.

Leave out small tools like pliers, tweezers, etc.  You can include a link to the post on this kinda stuff and concentrate on the big stuff.

Then when you get to a 2,000 video do one on a $2,000 lab and so forth.  Can't wait until the 1,000,000 th video
