There's a reason they call orthopedic surgery "carpentry". ;)

No kidding. That doc must have grown up on the farm. I was fully expecting to see that tendon meet a pair of fencing pliers.

I found a video online that shows Dave's ACL reconstruction in 3D, making it easy to follow the actual surgical process:

Get well soon, Dave! We need more teardowns, mail bag, etc.  :-+

Well, shoot. I'm pretty sure I can't watch that without fainting and falling flat on the floor  :(
I also get very uncomfortable around such content nowadays, even though I'd imagine it would be quite interesting. Yet back when I was a kid, those science shows (Nova, etc.) that featured surgery scenes didn't bother me.

Funny thing is blood itself does not bother me at all, but there is something about seeing them reaching in and playing around with tendons and other such tissues that kinda makes me cringe, yet, is still interesting enough that I wanted to keep watching, and I knew what I was getting into.

If you want something really cringe worthy, that scene in 172 hours where the guy cuts his arm, and gets to the main nerve.  >:D  I still could not bring myself to do that, I'd rather just die there. But guess when you're in that situation survival instincts kick in and you do anything to stay alive.

And ACL reconstruction is considered one of the more refined orthopedic surgeries.

Nothing like seeing a femur fracture repaired with the center of the femur cleared out with a "reamer" then a 15mm diameter stainless steel (or now titanium) rod driven down through the femur's shaft. Good stuff.

That's pretty close to where I'm at.

Neat.
I've seen a few now and it's interesting to note differences in the various techniques. They certainly aren't all identical in the methods and procedures used.

Just make sure it's not time-limited license and the knee won't stop working when license expires.  ;)
