Dave's still camera...
« on: January 30, 2013, 06:05:54 pm »
I was curious about Dave's DSC, so I went to the Flickr stream and sure enough, it says which camera the images were taken with. It's apparently a Samsung WB2000.

Image from the

Mechanical gauges for battery and space left on the memory card?! That's novel. Do they keep their state when the camera is turned off?
Whoa! How the hell did Dave know that Bob is my uncle? Amazing!

No, they don't keep their state.
It's not a bad camera, but has a few firmware issues. Shoots good video and decent audio, and capable of great quality stills. I use this for my walktime rants on the end of my monopod, and the occasional impromptu video when I don't have the main cam available.

No, they don't keep their state.

I presume that's to deter the opportunistic miscreant from glancing at the gauge, spotting a full battery and then trying to siphon all the charge out...  ;)

Turns out I didn't have the latest firmware, so just updated it. Hopefully will fix the issues with timelapse.
It's got high speed capture too.
Basically was the only camera 2 years ago that had 24mm wide angle, great HD video, high frame rate options, and pocketable.
Shame it doesn't charge from USB  :--
