Hello Dave,

What was the outcome of the resistor precision problem? Did digikey come good for the resistors? Was there any compensation for labor to replace the components?

I am assuming Maxim replaced the 1-wire parts, was there any offer of compensation for the labor involved to re and re the components on thousands of circuit boards?

I am just curious as what to expect if this ever happens to us.

Yes, Digikey replaced the resistors and want me to send a uCurrent unit to Bourns. Buggered if I know why.
No other compensation.

Yes, Maxim replaced the parts, and I am led to believe a small amount of compensation was offered.

If it ever happens to you then expect to have to eat the deal, that's what usually happens.

Really? I'd be pretty pissed off if I bought a reel of 3k parts at $1 each and couldn't get them replaced if they were defective.

This happen at the company I work for.

We got a load of processors from the supplier to find they were programmed with code. Worse, the security bit was set so we couldn't reprogramme it.

It stopped production for 4 WEEKs while everyone argued.

Sorry, what I mean by you have to eat the deal, is you have usually have to eat the consequences of inadvertently using those parts.
The company is of course always under the requirement to replace defective or incorrect parts under law (in most countries?), but they not under legal obligation to reimburse you any costs associated with what happened if you used those parts. To do that usually requires you to spend vast sums to sue them.
