I do find some websites lacking in images, 
in particularly side or bottom views needed.  poor website design?
one online TV retailer had no images of the remote controls or the back of the TV sets.
 too bad if you needed to know more about the products been sold.

I saw the price and figured they must be made from hand carved ivory.

You'd expect them to be <<$10.

This series goes up to IP65, that's always a bit pricier.
But the Bopla enclosures are always quite expensive...

The price is quite high, but hard to say without knowing what this persons project requirements were..
At some point I would just go for the four battery case and then throw in a linear reg or buck module.

Other option : use a 4  cell housing and "neutralise" one compartment

I've used those Bopla boxes. They're about €50 per part with custom milling and foil keypad for 50pcs.
The inside is tricky though, since you can assemble it straight or sloped. Whe sloped you can't have a pcb all the way trough since the battery compartment collides with your board.
Straight you'll have to use the rubber bumpers to cheat a few mm for a full length pcb that can actually contain some stuff.

Of you could just buy a larger one. They have 5 sizes iirc.

A bopla representative recently visited me and showed me their Bocube series, which is a nice twist to regular plastic boxes. Or aluminum for that matter.
