Thank goodness you found it. I got a bit drunk in the workshop last night and mislaid it. Please could I ask that you to send it back to me. I will, of course, reimburse you for the shipping costs.

For $300000, it will do your taxes, your laundry, and drive you to work every day.

But it won't blend.

Nice scope, however. Would have loved to have one to debug that damn NVMe to USB 3 converter...

I mean, it really looks like April fools, but how did he then actually get someone to lend him such gear to first drop in a dumpster and then open up the case?
Dave did note that there were no seals to break when getting the cover off..... and the dumpster secret might be to not actually throw it in there. :)

I want it. I need to probe some PC133 SDRAM, but my DS1054Z just wasn't cutting it.

If it is not an April Fools prank.

Looks nice, but I am trying to decide between this and a Tektronix 465 from craigslist. Can you do a comparison of the two?

"Have never found a scope in the dumpster"? Isn't the dumpster your primary source of scopes? ;) Way to ruin your own long-running joke :)

Isn't it traditional that dumpster finds that Dave doesn't want get given away....?

Dave hasn't gone Harry Potter on it. I'm pretty sure it has terrible microphonics issues when tapped with a pointer ;)

From the serial, the factory calibration date is 6/17/10. The SW version running is 05.75.00402 which was released on 2/24/17 (recent!). Current SW is 06.00.00628 which was released 3/29/17. End of support for this model is 3/1/21.

This looks like a Keysight demo unit to me. (1) Keysight rep card on top, (2) no corporate asset tag, (3) no one needs / buys that many SW options for one unit, (4) manufactured right at the start of the product lifecycle.

Sniff sniff, I smell boolsheet! :)

Here's a couple of tells:
+ The rear housing screws were removed before trying to power on, presumably to introduce the supply fault.
+ Sticky tape has been added to conceal the windows COA sticker, but not the S/N (the roll of tape is sitting on Dave's shelf).
+ If I'm reading it right, the scope has only had one cal from new (June 2010). It seems unlikely a working lab would spend $300k and never calibrate it.
+ The test lead he cobbled together looks suspiciously like the main cable from an Agilent RF power rail probe.

Better give Keysight their demo unit back.
