Idea: After every successful run of shirts, make a draw for one t-shirt, that forum members with >100 posts can enter.
Whoa! How the hell did Dave know that Bob is my uncle? Amazing!

Printfection have a giveaway option which will allow me to do this. We are currently doing this for the AmpHour shirts.
I'll be able to give away shirts for all sorts of stuff by simply sending someone a coupon code.
Teespring doesn't really allow this. I don't want to be packing and shipping shirts myself.

silly mailing address form.

There is not supposed to be "state/province" in Finnish addresses, yet the website requires me to enter something.

I always write the name of my country in those fields. I haven't had any problems with it yet.

I have a problem with ordering my shirt. When I am transferred to PayPal checkout, the connection is not secure. I have tried using a different browser, but I still can't get a secure connection. :(

So why would the campaign "end" on a specific date? Surely it would make sense to keep selling the shirts until demand tails off?

Yes, you specify a campaign run time, in my case, 7 days. It's a trade-off between getting the most orders, and people getting their shirts in a reasonable time frame. I don't think it's nice to wait a month or two for your shirt if you order early.

Little bit disappointed with the tshirt company you went with, Dave.

In trying to get away from the whole '$25 per tshirt' thing you've managed to get the cost down to $15 then they tack another $10 on for shipping to the aussies. Yet strangely enough, when I ordered the Negative Feedback shirt they charged me only $3.85 for shipping with an aussie address - I suspect some MASSIVE bugs on their end  |O

Looks like I wont be getting the 555 shirt - $10 postage for one tshirt is a little bit on the crazy side for me (66% the value of the shirt!)

I know its beyond your control when it comes to postage costs, but thats like paying $2000 for a bit of kit then being slugged $1300 to get it shipped - not good enough!

(Yes, I know, I didn't want my first forum post to be a whine either - never mind, I'll stick around the forums and try to get a better electronics edumacation!)

Shipping is always going to cost more to oz. It was the same or more postage for Zazzle IIRC. So this is much cheaper than zazzle, and I make a much bigger margin on it to make it worthwhile.

Yes, that has been reported many times. Have seen it myself.

If you have a better option, I'm all ears.

I also got $3.85 shipping for one of the shirts (to ireland) the other was the $10. Both ordered at the same time.

Zazzle postage is also over the top (companies like ThinkGeek have got the postage sorted out pretty well, but don't accept design submissions) but I find that they have a lot more designs by others that I like, so when you combine postage it turns out fairly minimal. Although that said, It's great to know that you now get a bigger margin and we are spending (slightly) less while making a bigger contribution to the blog and your work!

If you have a better option, I'm all ears.
Alternative options isn't something I've really looked into before, I suppose time will tell how stable Teespring is - so far a lot of glitches on their end - although I had another look at the 555 shirt and it gave me $3.85 shipping, so that I cant really complain about.

More than likely most of the problem is in my head, but YMMV

They could charge $18.85 per shirt, make shipping in the USA free, and then only charge you $6.15 for postage  :P That's only 33%! (and then enjoy all that sweet sweet extra profit when people buy multiple shirts paying multiple times for the "free" shipping)

$10 for shipping really isn't a bad deal. Try posting a shirt within Australia for much less. 500gram post bag is $7+ now!

FYI, I ordered one of each shirts, paid through paypal, and have only been charged $3.85 for shipping despite having an Australia address. First order even said $10 shipping during checkout...  :-//

Yes, it's very reasonable. Even more so when it's coming DHL.

Hi.

I'd like to buy a negative feedback and a 555 t-shirt. Unfortunately, they are charging shipping for both shirts separately. So that's about 51$ ~= 39€ altogether. For the corresponding t-shirts, zazzle.at charges 47,35€. So, it's still cheaper then zazzle. But not a lot. Too bad they can't combine orders. I asked. They said it's not possible.

Dave: Do you plan to do a "Don't turn it on. Take it apart" shirt on teespring? Because that's the one I really would like to have.  ;D

Thanks,
Norbert (from Austria, not Australia).

Gee, I just finished my order. They also only charged me $3,85 for shipping to Austria (not Australia) instead of the $10,50!! Awesome.

I missed the sale unfortunately.  I'm sure you'll have another though at some point so I'll have to keep a better eye out.

Have a comment in the meantime - seems odd "GIVE" is the most emphasized word on the Negative Feedback shirt.  Visually it really stands out and makes the phrase sound strange when I read it aloud (or in my head).

Maybe in a future iteration "negative feedback" can be the focus, with both words in the same style (or at least somehow coupled for a more fluid read).

Could be just me though.
My display name changed June 6th from "jneumann" to "Yaksaredabomb"

Did you get a mail which says:
"EEVblog Negative Feedback T-Shirt has ended successfully. The t-shirts are now being printed!
Your order will be shipped to: <your address>"

(or *any* confirmation mail from teespring)?

Check also your spam folder!

No shipping notices as yet. Just the above mentioned confirmation that they are being printed.

Got my 555 shirt today. It looks nice. I only time will tell how long the screen printing holds up.

The black print seems almost more like a dye, you can barely feel it. The white print is much thicker.

I got my 555 timer shirt today as well. I am wearing it right now. Nice 8)!!!!
It seems shipping from the U.S. takes about the same time to Australia and Austria :-)

Dave, are you going to do a "Don't turn it on, take it apart" shirt campaign on Teespring as well? I'd really like to have such shirt.
