Yeah, I've installed CAT5 in the lab now, so can direct connect. Just haven't tried it all out again.
I've got an idea to record with my regular cam at the same time, so can have a high quality playback to upload. Should work well I think.

Dave.

Oh, why the heck not!
It's on again tomorrow (Monday 28th) 8am Sydney time (+10 UTC).
Was thinking of using BlogTV, but will give Ustream another go and see what happens.
So it's just another experimental feeler episode really.
I plan on recording with my proper camera at the same time, so will be able to upload a proper version after it's finished.
Same Ustream chat room, crappy old webcam for the live feed.
We'll see how many turn up with the short notice.
Same format as last time, taking random chat questions and just ranting on.

Dave.

Excellent!

Let's see . . that should work out to 1700 Sunday for US Central Daylight Time. I think. I hate time zones.

Dave - re your dead chair - get yourself a used Herman Miller Aeron off ebay (e.g. this one) - it'll cost as much as a small scope but your arse will love you forever for it!
They have a 2-stage lift so gets up to bench height. Next to my Agilent MSO6034 scope it's probably the best thing I've bought for the workshop. They even have multiple knobs to twiddle with!

Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs

I don't know about your particular HD camera but the ones I have seen can output composite or s-video, which you can connect to a video capture card in order to get rid of the webcam.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

Sanyo HD-1010. It only does video out when in the cradle, and the USB camera mode is next to useless (and can't record at the same time). Cheaper and simpler to simply get a better webcam for the live show.

Just thought I would leave my few comments on the Live Show.  It was great.

The only area I thought I would comment on was the US stuff.  I'm from Texas and we are quite a bit different from the rest of the US.  We tend to do what we want here and we don't pay much attention to the rest of the US.  Also, to us, only the nothern half of the US are Yankees.  Just a few friendly comments.

I don't know if you have ever visited Texas or not, but if you haven't, you should.  We definetly have a different attitude.  I'm sure that others from Texas on your blog will have a similar take on things.

Keep up the good work, it is great.

Sorry, but to Australian's every American is a Yank!
In fact the Texan's are known to be even stranger than regular Yanks, what with George Dubbya and those quick draw guns you carry into Walmart! ;D
You do manage to avoid the dueling banjos stereotype though  :P

No, haven't been there, sorry.
Maybe on a potential trip there in October
I might call it the Dave "taking the Yankee piss" tour!

I can live with being a "Texan Yank" and I will agree that we like our guns here.

Anyways, I really like this blog.  There is a lot of knowledgeable people on here and I really like the video blog idea.

Just watched the recorded program now.  That embedded chat in the video is pretty slick.  Good work.

I think if you log in from both computers, it remembers the threads you've visited across both sessions.

I grew up living in Central America and can definitely say that living in the US provides me a far better and safer standard of living.  So, perhaps the US is a big energy hog of a country full of obese intolerant backwards people, but not everybody in Australia is a protein shake drinking, no alcohol, health nut, electronics genius either.

I saw on the news the other night that 25% of Americans are now considered Obese.  Only 25% of Americans could be drafted in the event of major war.  75% are unfit or not healthy enough to join the military.

We really need to get these health issues resolved here.

It was really good to see the questions that had been typed in on the recording of the live session - thumbs up for that, Dave! 11pm on a Sunday night ( and even later for those in Europe ) is not convenient for the live session but that doesn't matter as I have questions worth squat to ask live!!

I'm one who think a weekly live blog will be too much! You've got other things to do, mate! May I suggest no more often than every month? Perhaps no longer than half an hour at a time? You are lucky that you don't even have to set off for work until after 9am! At my workplace there's not enough parking spaces so anyone arriving late will struggle to find a space! ( and public transport there is not quite convenient because they would triple my commute time! )
You can do anything with the right attitude and a hammer.
