I like it. Probably much smoother than the live show.

Maybe you shouldn't rant about stupid viewers asking stupid questions while trying to solicit questions from viewers? :-DD

This is a much better route.  There are stupid people (usually deliberate, but not always) and there are stupid questions, this way you can weed them out!

With the number of questions you have received, I suggest making this a series Dave. That way you can answer as many as possible.

Depending on how many questions are posted you could consider dividing them into a few categories for the video. That way you might even index your Q&A videos for future reference. Like: "oh that's typical a question that might've been answered in EEVblog Q&A #5 in the beginner's questions / Dave's Lab / digital stuff / industry stuff / DMM & other instruments / <whatever you come up with>  -part." There is a lot to elaborate on from this idea, but I take you get the gist of it.

Use this thread to discuss the Q&A video idea

Hi Dave, I moderate another electronics forum and I often point people to your videos ("See this video, starting at 23:14" or similar).

If you're doing Q&A, it would be really useful for some of us out here if you can split them by topic or even by question.

I guess it is only useful for you if it drives traffic toward you.

As an aside, is there a way to link to your videos so that they are cued up to a particular point?  There's a couple of videos I point people to occasionally (like your soldering iron mod where you discuss the red/green LED driver).  That particular circuit and derivatives of it is very useful for newbies and you have explained it well.  There are lots of these gems in your videos that are already great answers to questions or solutions to general problems.

I think a separate chat channel for question only would be better... and for Q&A, why not just use the forum?

Would you consider a tips and jigs video?

For example: Mains power cord with inline fuse and alligator clips, common rig on any service bench.

That's what I was thinking. Much less dead time, even if I don't have prepared answers.

Because there are almost 100,000 subscribers on youtube, many of which will only use Youtube.

I quite like that idea, thanks.

I think Dave might be working on it soon:

1:52 AM - 26 Dec 13 "Dave Jones (@eevblog): Oh shit, I was supposed to do a Q&A video, right? Better get that done this year!"

I'm hoping he just has been slowly working on it. There weren't too many questions were there?

Not too many, but some of them were quite good, I suppose he can focus on them for greater time.

Hey, Dave!!! How is it going? Can't wait to see this, most wanted video for me definitely  :)
