EEVblog shop: "uCurrent GOLD" - ETA & shipping (Question)
« on: February 02, 2015, 06:56:07 pm »
I finally decided I want to get a "uCurrent GOLD" from the official shop.

Usually, if I see such a poorly maintained online shop, I wouldn't trust them my with my money. But this time it's Dave, so it'll be (hopefully) allright   ^-^

Due to the lack of (up to date) informatin some things are still unclear to me. I wrote Dave an email to his general adress, but I might just got stuck in his spam filters or he simply didn't bother to answer, so I'm taking his advide and asking on the forums.  ;)

First of, it says at at the very top "STOCK UPDATE: OUT OF STOCK. Due mid Jan.". By now we have the 2. Feb, so I wonder if you still don't have them in stock or if you just have forgotten to update the note. If you don't have them, can you tell when you expect the new batch?

Second, I've checked the official page of the australian post and they DO offer "Pack and Track" Service to Germany , maybe it's just me but I don't get why you have to use express courier service. To be fair, the difference of less than 5$ does not really matter, but I'm curious to know.

Greetings

juhu long time reader first post  8)

No worries, it will arrive. Mine took a long rest at the German customs - I guess several weeks. In total it took 8,5 weeks. But it was not Dave's fault.

I think he changed the shipping method because some got lost. Before you got a tracklng number, but it was not trackable online. This has changed now.

They have been sent now.
Yes, I have to manually up date the text on the product page.

Because shipments to Germany using Pack'n'Track were taking between 1 and 2 MONTHS, or more in several cases.
I was sick of the constant emails asking for updates where their package was, and I was not able to tell them. Just "stuck in customs".
Germany is the only country that has this ridiculous customs system that hold everything, then (if you are lucky) sends letter to the person asking for taxes or whatever, and then they might release it weeks later, again if you are lucky.

Actually Chile is also as bad or worse. I have received things after three months without them even showing in the mail system. Sometimes I have gone to processing plant closest to me to find something has been waiting there for a month, I pay for my import taxes and leave. Another month later the notice can show up in my mail box that I have something that needs taxes paid and it is what I picked up the month before. Ate least everything has arrived, eventually, except for one thing in my five years here. Patience is not a virtue, it is survival here.

Nah, Spain does it as well. You can pay for Fedex 48 hour shipping (or whatever) from somewhere and the post office will put the parcel on a shelf for a few days then write you a letter asking for import taxes. The letter will be in a big envelope marked "Prority" and take three or four days to arrive even though it's sent directly by the Post Office. Go figure.

You can actually get stuff faster via. normal mail than paying for Fedex. If they decide to charge you tax on normal parcels you get to skip the whole letter writing part, the postman brings it to your door and demands the money in person. Most small parcels get though though. I don't think I've ever paid tax on stuff that comes from China.

Fungus, que pena! Pensé que Chile tiene una situación malo pero escucho que el resto de Sur América tiene mucho peor.

Yes, this is really a shame!
All goods coming via airplane get stuck here at Frankfurt airport customs.

Even if nothing has to be done in customs (free goods), they still hold off the parcels, for no obvious reasons.
Absolutely incompetent, these people!

A 0$ worth parcel from Seattle took nearly 5 weeks, but was back in a bit more than 1 week.

Hi everyone!
Unfortunately I did not receive my µCurrent yet, which I ordered in august last year (first it was out of stock, then Dave discontinued the delivery to Germany, but he ensured to me, that it was sent). I am sure, it's not Dave's fault, there seem to be severe problems with the commercial packages from non-EU-Countries.

@Dave:
I wouldn't call our customs systems rediculous, I'd rather call it #&%$'*+#@!
E. g. do they refuse delivery of a multimeter because it has no german manual. The fact, that exactly the same device is sold in Germany (with a single-sided DIN A5 - "manual") and that the german manual can be downloaded doesn't impress them at all. If you are lucky and you can proof, that you are a professional, you might get it.

Greetings!

It's for your own benefit.  :)

Is it worth using a distributor? I don't know what quantities you need to be talking about but maybe Farnell/Digikey/etc  would stock the uCurrent... you might save more in shipping hassle/time/cost over their margin.

You think yours is bad........... Here SAPO went on strike for 3 months, and there was no noticeable difference in service. Still p!ss poor, and bend over without lube expensive to boot.

If you want service you pay for courier........

I'm hoping one of those is coming to the Netherlands. Should take somewhere between 1 to 3 weeks comparing to other non-eu deliveries.
Assuming the docs are fine.

Customs are "a problem" if you're shipment is from a non-eu company. ebay individual Asian people are excluded 99% of the time because they're all shipped as "gift".

Why isn't there an EEVBlog European Logistics Hub? There must be some companies around offering that kind of assistance.

Got mine 02-11. That is 9 days from the shipping confirmation.
No customs. But neither was there an declarations form you'll usually find on international packages. That might be bad.
