You definitely should do custom boxes, thier design is very poor & old fashioned in my opinion.
Maybe I can hold a 99designs contest?

I was just thinking, maybe I should go with plain blank cardboard box and whack a big stamp on each one: "EEVblog No bullshit Packaging", rather thank some fancy pantsy  graphic design?
EDIT: I just checked with eco-friendly SWMBO and she gave that idea the  :-+

yep, that sounds very original  :-+

Yeah, or perhaps "We spent the money on the product, not the box it came in."

She didn't get to be SWMBO for nothing - she's got it right!
Plain packaging - just the facts Ma'am.

I love Amazon's "Frustration free packaging" (not sure if its available outside USA though). This sounds like nice twist on that idea...

Dave, I don't know if anyone has asked this already: but what would be the advantages and disadvantages between buying your BM235 and a BM257. I'm asking because I'm European and I really do WANT the EEVBlog multimeter, but I'd be slapped with a metric butt ton of taxes and duties and I can just buy the BM257 locally. Please give me a good reason to convince myself to spend umpteen euros extra for the extra coolness factor?

Look at the datasheet yourself. Some things better, some thing worse, you make the choice.

Me too. Seems everyone likes the idea, so that will be it. Plain brown cardboard box (none of that white rubbish) with a "EEVblog NO BULLSHIT Packaging" stamp.
I'll tell them to lose the annoying store hanger on the top of the box too.
I need to make stamp artwork and get a custom stamp made.

They can't laser engrave the box?

Way cool.  :-+ Even better than what first thought you meant - that you were going to use artwork to make it __look like__ it was stamped.

Too bad i just recently bought two more meters from Franky - otherwise I would be on a wait-list (Wrong thread here - but I think wait-list is better than crowdfund option).

Dave why dont you ask Siglent if they are willing to develop a meter with your specifications and parts grade... branded...  Its China but they can do good job today and are still affordable enought to make profit... and you know people overthere  :-+

99designs would be great idea. So many talented guys overthere.

I am working on my own custom meter with someone.
BTW, it's not as easy as me specifying everything, there are inevitable tradeoffs when working with a T&M company on a product like this.
I'd like to blog the experience so far, but I can't.

If it's a proper Aussie meter, it'll have the input jacks at the top and the display down under. :)

I am not a prude, nor do I care for political correctness, but......

You are selling to the public and trying make money. It would be in your best interest to not have the word "bullshit" on your packaging. It will possibly restrict sales. Sorry, better to be politically correct for this particular application IMHO.
