Give a shout out to local HAM FESTs - they're great!
« on: August 27, 2013, 08:13:11 pm »
Not sure about other parts of the world, but here in the USA we have local HAM FEST's that are great fun to visit.

They're usually one or two day events where ham radio and electronics geeks gather to buy and sell all things related to amateur radio - there is ALWAYS a ton of other geeky electronics gear for sale on the cheep.  Scopes, power supplies, freq gens and counters, analyzers and all sorts of other test equipment is there, new and used.  Lots of vintage tube stuff.
I LOVE it!   It's like a flea market for electronics geeks.

Long live the HAM FEST!!

Cheers!

For New Zealand, here's were you find them.

The Hamilton or Cambridge ones happen once a year or two, and are usually ok. Others tend to be small and not worth the trip.
There's a lot of junk there which you have to sort through to find something good. but you usually find something to make the trip worth it.

Always a great place for a new guy to get a bunch of older lab equipment very cheap.
Also great place for parts.
