iTunes EEVblog broken?
« on: July 15, 2013, 09:16:46 pm »
No episodes after 491 are showing up on iTunes.  Is there a problem?

I changed the itunes feed as an experiment. Have changed it back, but it could take a few days to update.
Please be aware that my continued support of the podcast version of the blog is not guaranteed, I do not intend to keep it going indefinitely.

I would not mind "lower" resolution podcast feeds via iTunes. That should save a bundle.

The iTunes podcast is now working for me, on an iPad.
I'm not using it - I watch via youtube - just subscribed as a test.
It is up to date including 495.

The iTunes feed still does not work for me (Germany) :(. Even within the iTunes Store, the feed shows only up to episode #491, so to resubscribe is not a solution. Can anyone in Germany confirm that?

Thank you

Thomas

USA iTunes store still stuck at #491.  It is a very convenient way to watch it on a Mac, so hopefully you will keep it going.  Thanks!

Still no further episode than #491. Would you mind to recheck the settings? I'm also using a Mac, and frankly I wouldn't change the iTunes  feed. Thank you Dave for considering us.

While the iTunes Store (iTS) still shows only up to #491, I was able to update a newly added podcast, following this procedure:

Open up iTunes, go to File -> Subscribe to Podcast, enter http://www.eevblog.com/feed/ in the URL textbox, click ok. This creates a new entry in the podcast list called "EEVblog - The Electronics Engineering Video" [ the old one had  "Podcast feed" added to the name.

So I have two Podcast feeds now, the old one up to episode #491 and the new one (#463 - #501).  :)

This new podcast feed gets updated, so this means the feed.rss file is correct. As I circumvent the iTunes server, the error must be within the iTS. It looks that it does not update the feed anymore, due to a blocking status on the iTS side. Maybe you could contact Apple iTunes support to look into it, otherwise the EEVBlog probably vanishes from the iTunes directory...
I also looked at your feed.rss, I couldn't find any issue other than it's not nicely formatted  :(.

Hope this helps a bit to everyone.

As far as I can see I'm doing everything right on my server side.  :-//
I have reactivated the new-feed URL tag and will leave it that way.

Yeas, it's working again with the old feed in iTunes. I rechecked iTS, this is working as well.
So it seems that: <itunes:new-feed-url>http://www.eevblog.com/feed</itunes:new-feed-url> did fix the problem.

Thank you Dave!
