Local Time Display incorrect - Resolved
« on: September 01, 2018, 06:32:10 am »
Don't know whether this is the correct place  !!

I am from India.  (TimeZone: GMT +5:30 hrs)

My Local time both in posts & profile is wrongly displayed.
It shows as GMT+11:00 hrs.  seems to be Sydney/Australia  time.

How to correct this?
Can the administrators/moderators take notice.

Update:-
 - There is no provision for any user to enter TimeZone.
 - But there is a provision to enter country in your profile.
I assume, the forum software should take this entry to process local time.
Somehow it is not doing this properly!!

Mine is a bit off as sell, not as much as yours, but worse than that I'm seeing pm and am messed up, unless 3pm is supposed to be the middle of the night.

JS

If I don't know how it works, I prefer not to turn it on.

The default forum time is for Sydney, Australia - and since that's where Dave is, it makes sense.

You can vary your offset by navigating to your profile settings "Look and feel" and put a number of hours in the field provided.  As you can see, you can put in negative and decimal values.  You can also try clicking on "auto detect" to see if it comes up with the right value for you.

Don't forget to click on the Change Profile button down the bottom of the page or your changes won't be saved!!

I'm not sure what happens with daylight savings changes - but if you end up out of whack, it's just a matter of changing the offset twice a year....

Thanks Brumby. Updated "Time  Offset" in my profile to 4.5, & Now my time display is correct.

Four times a year. Because using his local time zone doesn't make sense.
