New Replies Broked?
« on: March 08, 2017, 06:48:20 pm »
I think it's me..

When I click the link to show my replies (url https://www.eevblog.com/forum/unreadreplies/)

I get the 502 bad gateway message from Dave and gnif. It's been a week and it only happens on my work PC. Home is OK.

Someone is going to tell me to clean out my cookies. Which one should I delete? I feel lazy to log into a hundred or sites I won't remember the passwords.

Or it's something else?

i don't!
clean cache, then try cleaning cookies

to check if this is it you could first try to access the website in private/incognito mode (a new session with no cache/cookies)

The last couple replies I tried worked fine here but I am also seeing intermittent gateway errors:

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/blog/eevblog-632-solar-roadways-are-bullshit!/msg1155093/#msg1155093

When it messes up, I can just reload the gateway error page and eventually it will work.  Sometimes one reload, sometimes dozens of times, seconds or moments later, doesn't seem to matter or have any pattern that I can discern.  The strange thing is that it is not the whole forum like when the entire site goes down.  Some pages will work (perhaps they are in a cache at Dave's end or on cloudflare or somthing?) but others or things like trying to reply will just immediately pop up the 502 or will take a long time (like 30 seconds or so with a "waiting for eevblog.com...") then finally pop up.

5 minutes later it might be fine...
5 minutes after that it might go berzerk again or be totally fine...
Hit or miss with no apparent pattern...   :-//

This machine is 10 hops from Dave's server, connected to the net upstream via a HE (Hurricane Electric) fibre...

Total of 6 (NAT + internal + gateway + link + gateway) hops on 10.x.x.x then:
v219.core1.yyc1.he.net  (216.218.224.113)
100ge10-2.core1.yvr1.he.net  (184.105.64.113)
vanix.cloudflare.com  (206.41.104.52)
104.31.75.133

...stable at about 20ms round trip, if that helps any...

I've been seeing the 502 bad gateway a few times in the last 2 weeks, often it only effects one group or one thread!
A forced refresh doesn't fix it. As it clears after a few minutes and I couldn't see anybody else was mentioning it, I didn't either.
.  That took much longer than I thought it would.

Happens here too. It'll be ok for weeks, then a week or so of 502s that clear after multiple refreshes, but keep coming back for the week, then it's all good again.
