Old EEVBlog
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:12:45 pm »
Hello Dave,

I love watching EEVBlog, but of late we've lost some of the old EEVBlog style, the Mailbag and Teardown segments are great regulars but we're (certainly I am) missing the good ol power supply design ep's and such like.

Will you have time to show us what your working on, and such in the coming weeks?

Tom

The "good old" PSU video?  ???
Could have sworn I started those about #220!
I just put up a PSU video last week.
I was going to shoot several more, but I was sick so not much got done.

Dave.

I think he means like "#110 - Let's Design a DC to DC Switchmode Converter"

I don't know exactly what I mean, however there is a definite change of late, and I miss the old stuff.

I guess what I mean is the hacks, projects, Dave CAD sessions and such.

Perhaps I am wrong?

Haha 'Ols EEvblog' . Technology moves fast. Anything older than 3 months is considered 'old skool' these days ...

Sorry to say I think you are mistaken. That seems very common though, I get it all the time.
People seem to get a couple of episodes they really like stuck in their head and think that somehow I've always produced plenty of those, when in fact it's only a couple over the span of several hundred.

Fact is I have rarely done hacks, rarely done projects, rarely done DaveCAD sessions, rarely done multimeter reviews etc etc in the scheme of things.
The blog has always been "whatever" I wanted to do at the time and is mostly a mix of completely random stuff.
Well, it was until I got the regular teardown and mailbag segments.
Unfortunately I can't commit to those regular segments without appearing like I'm producing more of those that other "old style" material. I do try and get out at least an average of two videos a week, and with one regular segment, and one almost regular segment, often there is the two right there.
Everyone has their favourite stuff, and I'm afraid they come out when they come out, just like it's always been.

Dave.

Likely, and that's 1 video out of 290+ last a I checked. Maybe I've done a couple of other similar ones.
If so that's 1% of my episodes. So at the "old blog" rate you could expect those episodes maybe once or twice a year!

Hey Dave,

Don't get me wrong, I know you do this your way and thats what keeps it fun, I just wondered if there was a shift, but clearly not as you posted another one of the good oldies: #298

Anyways, Thanks as always for producing such a brilliant show, community and keeping things interesting.

That was a "good oldie"? ???
What about 297, 291, 286, 285, 279, 273, 262, 260, 259.................... ?

My point is, there is no such thing as "good oldie". I continue to do most the style of videos I have always done, in the same random time frame.
Any perceived "shift" is just progress and trying and adding new types of videos etc.

Dave.

Keep up the good work Dave, and btw I am at 0:54 in your #300 show and notice your frustration with the scrolling.

As I recall from my Windows days it have a scroll lock key which stops the window scrolling automatically in a lot of programs.

Hey Dave keep up the great work. Have watched about 100 episodes so far. Keeps me sane on night shift. Change is a sign of progression. Love it. Esp. The rants. So Australiana. Loved the photocopier that teardown. Thumbs up.
