Thread bookmarks

Dave,

One useful mod you can add to the forum is a thread bookmark, so we can keep track of our favorite posts. The first link on google is this one: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=864

I think it will be very usefull.

+1 , too bad its not qualified for current SMF 2.0.4.

Really handy to mark down subscribed threads, cause all this time I believe users had to use the limited forum search function just to find the thread of interest.

This will also relieve the server utilization from users hammering the search function.

It is, I just installed and tested it at one of my SMF test forums running 2.0.4 (I've been running SMF forums for years  :))

You'll see people will make posts and only type "BM" in the post so they can go back to their post history and find their "bookmarks". I don't have a big problem with the "BM" post clutter at my forum, but if I did I would use this mod without any reservations.

I get "Test Failed" in the subs.php file
I won't risk installing mods that don't pass the automated tests, sorry.

Hi Dave,

I'm relatively new here but I've been installing and running SMF forums for a very long time. Yea I wouldn't install it if the test failed. But what that means is that another mod you installed has made changes to the php in those files that other mods can't parse when installing because it installed on my test forum just fine. You're likely to run into other problems later on with other mods.

What I always do is install a test forum in another directory just for staff to experiment with, and keep all the same installed mods/themes running on that, so when issues like this come up you can figure out what's wrong. I always install/test new mods on the test forum first, and if they fail I either don't use them or go to the SMF support forums and ask the mod author to help.

Good Luck.

Dave,

Can you try adding a bookmark mod again? I'm always losing good threads without it.
