Upcoming Electronex 2012 Show
« on: September 04, 2012, 06:30:02 am »
http://www.electronex.com.au/new-products/121-hakko-will-shwcase-full-portfolio-of-working-models

There are a few feeds (such as above) indicating that Hakko will be in attendance at Electronex 2012.

It would be great for EEV viewers if Hakko can be persuaded to run a promotion or provide Dave with irons
as prizes during the show or in the months running up to years end.

I think that's not Hakko direct, but just a distributor.

Dave.

Planning on heading to Syd for the expo and was wondering if it's doable in one full day? Looking at some of the exhibitors there's probably a dozen that I already know I want to stop and talk to, estimate 15mins each, so that already kills a few hours.
Time over the next few months is pretty limited so I probably couldn't stretch it to two days. Wish I hadn't drawn the short straw last year, and missed out on the one in Melb.

If anyone is reading this thread that went to the previous years expos let me know....how long did it take you, and how long would you have liked to spend there? (realistically)

Thanks
James

It is not a huge show, so a day is plenty. Most exhibitors will have a problem talking to you for 15 minutes as they need to talk to as many prospective customers as possible. You will mainly be talking to sale staff and not electronics designers or engineers so there is a limit to how long a conversation needs to be anyway if you are not just about to place a big order. My guess is that in 3 hours will be plenty, and if you need to find out more, you contact an exhibitor after the show.

As amspire said, it's not a big show, just one hall, easily do-able in one day. Most people only go for the one day.

Dave.

If you want a big show, take a trip to the annual electronics show in Munich at the beginning of November
I went there a few years ago.
Its open for about 5 days. Covers some 20 halls.
Costs (and everyone pays) some $50 to get in. The show catalogue is the size of a bible.
You HAVE to plan who you visit.
I spent 3 days there. That is not enough time to just see the stands you are interested in
If you are in the business seriously, you will have made appointments with the various exhibitors beforehand. You then get personal service. A meal. A drink.  A seat in the back section of the booth. You also sign new deals with the exhibitors there.

Many of the larger stands are the size of small houses, many being two storey
Many exhibitors put on entertainment; jugglers, musicians etc
Many exhibitors will fly in (from Europe) their largest customers just for the day

Now that''s a show.

I'm sure that if we could start a collection for Dave, we could send him (next year) and he could shoot some videos.
I say that because most of you won't believe me when I describe the scale that this is on.
