[FS World] Sharp LJ320U21 EL 320x240 Matrix Displays [SOLD]
« on: March 03, 2017, 11:21:48 am »
I found some more old Sharp EL display panels, they are all the same LJ320U21 model which is 6" 320x240 pixel. It also appears they have a resistive touch sensor on the top as well.

It looks like someone might have tested these previously as some of them have 'good' written on them and they where taken from a company that used to manufacture devices that used these panels. But i've not done any testing of my own and really have no idea if they are working, or even if they are new or used.

£15 each £10 each+ worldwide postage. They are located in the UK so UK/European shipping shouldn't be too expensive.

Resist..
Resist...
Dammit, I can't resist any longer  :-//
I'm a display addict and will HAVE to have two, please. If you have any left.
I do have the datasheet ( from 1987). It is from a slightly earlier version. It is a paper copy (atm), so I will get it scanned later.
Cheers
David

If you still have some I'm interested in buying one, maybe two (depending on shipping cost to BE).

Many years ago I picked up some of these at a liquidation sale of a Sharp distributor.
They light up a rather unusual yellow colour.
I built one into the lid of a BBC micro and filled the PSU area with batteries to create what was possibly the first (only?) portable BBC Micro!

Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs

post calculator is saying it should cost about £13 to ship one to belgium, shipping for two panels looks to be about +£2 more

that's pretty cool, how long did the batteries last?

I don't remember - the batteries were a bit of a gimmick and not very useful  - it was more about making the system portable without needing to lug a monitor around.
It was for a standalone ROM based EEPROM programming system, used for slightly dubious purposes.

What did you use to drive the display ?
I have a similar one from Planar el display, but I can't get the timings right... (Probably bad code on my part)

From memory I had some code in an EPROM that forced the right screen mode at startup and tweaked the display timings to suit. Probably 20 years ago so can't remember the details.

sorry they are all gone!

one buyer found some of the screens had terrible screen burn so we just scrapped the remaining ones. Without any test mode it's impossible for me to see their condition without setting up an fpga to test them.
