9V Battery Mount
« on: December 18, 2014, 04:16:41 am »
Does anyone know where I can get hold of a 9V battery mount that mount the battery on it's side?
I don't have enough space for a flat mount or a vertical mount so side mount is the only option, I currently have one of those metal clip retainers and a flying lead but I am looking for a mount which includes the battery clips.

Something like this but on it's side: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/BH9VPC/BH9V-PC-ND/31510

Take a spent 9V battery and use the connector to make your clips, the mount should be easy to manufacture at home with discarded material as well.

Yeah, I'm a cheapskate.

For that I generally use double sided tape to stick it down. If it is something I regularly will replace then a small strip of velcro ( the stuff you use for plant ties) as a loop to hold it works well, with the section under the battery stuck to the mount with some epoxy.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Sorry I should have stated in the original post that I am looking for an off the shelf part as this is for a new revision of a product, I am looking for improvements that make the manufacturing easier and doesn't leave a loose lead when the 9v battery isn't used.

Yes that's pretty much what we use at the minute.
The problem is we leave it up to the customer to decide whether they want the 9v battery or not so we ship it without but don't have a good solution for it flapping about in the case.

You won't find any.
Buy the one in your link and cut out the side wall.
Now try to insert or remove the battery from the side.

Can't get the battery in or out.
If you could the battery would come loose when you bumped the device.

idiotic solution i think but i will put it any way  :P put 9v pcb connector anywhere in the pcb and fix the strap connector in it when a battery is not used , or even a plastic protective cap for 9v contact fixed somehow in the pcb, and same thing the strap connector is fixed on it.
