Acorn System One or High Res Pictures of PCBs Wanted Please!
« on: October 23, 2017, 11:37:47 am »
Hi!

(UK Member)

My friend Steve used to have an Acorn System One (aka Acorn Microcomputer) but he's not sure if he turfed it out when he moved from
Welwyn Garden City!

Has any Member got one of these System One's they're willing to pass on for a reasonable price, alternatively, could someone who has one but prefers to keep it, scan some full-size pictures of both sides of the two PCBs in as high-res as possible, and also I'd like the Circuit Diagrams if possible please!

I can import good high-res scans of the PCBs into my Sprint Layout PCB package and retrace over (with suitable layout modifications!) to make a new pcb file unrelated to the original layout - the British Acorn Company has been gone over thirty years now!

Many thanks,

Chris Williams
It's an enigma that's what it is!! This thing's not fixed because it doesn't want to be fixed!!

Actually Acorn became ARM ... although I doubt they will be overly interested, not seen a system 1 for sale in a long time - plenty of other 6502 based stuff around.

Hi!

Yes, that's the one!

I've had another chat with my friend Steve - he thinks it's still in the house somewhere but so far neither of us have seen it yet!

From Wikipedia: The System 1 front board was used as the control panel for the fictional computer Slave in the 1981 series of the BBC science-fiction series Blake's 7.

So I guess these are now really hard to find and highly collectable for fans.
Soldering/Rework: Pace ADS200, Pace MBT350
Multimeters: Fluke 189, 87V, 117, 112   >>> WANTED STUFF <<<
Oszilloskopen: Lecroy 9314, Phillips PM3065, Tektronix 2215a, 314

Do you know the stardot forum http://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/index.php?

They might be able to help / will be very interested in a system one.

note i'm still a member of a local branch of the FACC; federatie van Atom computer clubs (dutch). Like in Acorn Atom.
We still gather once a month (where is the drinking beer icon when you need it..?).

Hi!

Update to the above, my friend actually found the remains of his System One Kit, both PCBs and the white keyboard overlay and display, so we'll be able to get it working using the desoldering tools we have access to at our works!

Thanks to those who replied to my enquiry!
