Hehehe... just showed some of these pics to my wife and I think she's feeling much better now about my own hoarding. She thanked me for "not being like that".

I'll be doing the same - but I don't think I will get a "Thank You".  I'm expecting "the look" - which will mean to communicate something along the lines of "don't you dare".

    • The electronics hobby components I sell.
Thank goodness it's Auckland.

Seriously though, what I see in those pictures is 99% trash.

The boxes of buttons, switches, and heatsinks, they would sell on trademe, the rest of it, scrap/dump, not worth the trouble.

  • Toys so very many Toys.
Does Auckland have a makerspace or something similar even an amateur Radio group? At least if there is getting the chance to pick over the leftovers may help both sides? Or maybe even the owner gets some help to cleanup the mess working bee style for reward to the helpers?

Reminds me to keep some sort of a list here as to the division of spoils for my toy collection should I get hit by a Red Bus :o

I really want to go there, if only I could get in touch with the guy clearing it out! I saw several things in the photos that I want.

i see you're in USA
He's not going to ship anything for people.
He's way to busy for it, and it's not going to be worth his time.
Unless you know someone in Auckland/NZ?

Unfortunately the place just caught on fire today and it has mostly burnt out the basement.
At least it's not a total waste, a lot of the useful stuff was already removed.
Still, a lot of new old stock will have burnt though  :(

All the copper wire was already taken to the scrap yard, ~4 really large trailer loads worth of transformer wire spools.
