Cheap pick/place machines (UK only!)
« on: November 22, 2017, 07:17:17 pm »
I've just rescued four old Versatronics pick & place machines from being scrapped.

I've not yet tested or looked at them in detail, but they were in use before they got put into storage a few years ago.
If anyone is seriously interested in having their own P&P for very little money (low 3 figures including feeders, maybe less for a "good cause") please get in touch. Collection from Loughton,Essex.

They will need a very small amount of work - I didn't take the frames so you'll need to get/make a sturdy table and make/improvise a few mechanicals like board supports & nozzles.
(Frames are still available if you can collect soon from Wolverhampton - they're heading for the scrap yard)

I'll be testing them over then next day or two - I expect at least two fully useable systems

This video shows an overview - this is an RV4s which has a flying camera, 3 of the machines I have are RV2's, which on initial inspection look the same as the RV1s, which only differs from teh RV4s in that it doesn't have the flying camera.

More info on my forum www.electricstuff.co.uk/forum

One is an RV1 which is probably not so useful as it has a lot of differences and no camera, but might be useful as a general purpose robot arm - these things are very solid!

There are also a load of 10 lane 8mm tape feeders and some vibratory feeders left in Wolverhampton ( Free to anyone who will collect) , which might be useful for anyone DIYing a P&P machine - these take mains power and RS232 so very easy to drive.
Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs

How I wish I had room for this now, rather than in a bit.

Sorry just edited this post after properly reading original post. If there is a fully working machine then I could be interested.
