Problem with purchase from tester.co.uk
« on: March 28, 2014, 10:30:08 am »
I bought (paid) an oscilloscope (siglent 2104) apr.1200 english pound plus 100 pound for calibration plus 10 pond next day delivery all together more then 1300 pound. This is very expensive. It was on 9-march-2014 Sunday.Next day i called them and she said out of stock sorry and we have got an issue with our computer system.but two weeks later you can get it.ON Monday (24-03-2014)i called them again and she said you should get on Wednesday or Thursday. But today is Friday and i called them again and she said "we didn't get yet but give me a five minutes to speak with my colleague." 30 minutes later i called back and an other people said my scope will arrive middle of April.
Why lie to me?Why promise to me?They are useless!Do not buy anything from them.
(Sorry for bad language)
Thank you Gabor.

Fair enough you have had a bad lead time experience on this one. I'll just state my 2c that I've had nothing but 1st class service from Tester/Pass. Bought from them twice, equipment in stock, delivered next day and good phone support.

Sometimes retails get lied to by their suppliers.

I'm not saying this is the case here, but it happens just as much as retails lying to customers.
It only takes one person lying in the chain and everyone down the line gets pissed off.

This is the company promoted by Martin Lorton? I don't think they are useless or scammers, but why pay for calibration of a brand new scope? Surely you leave it for a year at least? Anybody else for brand new factory calibrated equipment to be re-calibrated before delivery?

Was going to suggest you to post the complain at http://mjlorton.com/forum/ as tester.co.uk is a major sponsor there, but don't know why I can't reach Martin's site ?  :-//

Edit : Damn, Martin's domain name mjlorton.com is expired.  :palm:

Everyone/company screws up.  How they react or "make it right" dictates whether they deserve/earn future business or not.

I'm just suggesting that the OP raise his complaint to the highest level and see what happens.

Agreed, just pointing out that the person that the OP is going to contact as you suggested may not read the PM sent through this forum soon as Barry is not active here.

Currently through the help from Martin is probably the best choice as probably Martin can relay OP's message faster and hopefully to the right person, but alas Martin's site is also down. I'm pretty sure Martin will have the interest on this matter as well.

It is my understanding that sending a PM results in an email sent to the registered email address on this forum.  So Barry should get a message via email and even though he doesn't participate here.

Of course, I'm not a SMF expert so I could be wrong here?

Because some companies' internal systems require traceable calibration on equipment used for production. Manufacturers' own cal may not satisfy their traceability requirements. It could also be that gear has been on the shelf long enough that there isn't enough remaining time on the factory cal to meet their normal intervals.
Remember calibration is not the adjustment, it's the verification that it meets specs.
There are also some cases where geographic location change through shipping can affect calibration, e.g. weighing equipment, which is affected by differences in gravitational force at different latitudes.

I've had a couple of PMs and you should get a notification to you registered email.

Not sure where you live but in the UK you should be covered if they don't deliver as agreed when you bought it;  also buying stuff online you are covered by the distance selling regulations which goes like.. "Your right to cancel starts the moment you place your order and doesn’t end until seven working days from the day after you receive your goods"

I'd either ask for money back or ask them to put it right,  but don't forget to let us all know how you get on.

How dare they not have it in stock!

So um did you ask for a refund and go elsewhere and get next day delivery?

Hi All,
It's Barry here from tester.co.uk sorry about the delay in replying to this thread but i generally only get to know about these type of forum comments when someone lets me know about them.

Martin gave me the heads up about this one.

I dont seem to get or haven't had any notifications from the forum.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the Siglent Gabor.

If you can send me your details by message through the forum i can look into it for you. Regarding stock the website is supposed to update nightly and i cant look into what the issue was without some further details.

We generally keep most of them on the shelf.

Regarding calibration it's up to you. We do offer it but you don't have to take it. Especially if you think it's expensive.

Sometimes we have customers who complain they were never asked for it. They then find out they needed it and have to send their equipment back to be calibrated so we make a point of offering it each time.

Thanks to the guys who have responded with a good experience.

We dont get it right everytime but we try our best.

The post title is a little strong but this is a forum after all ! Just wish all the customers who had been looked after would post good comments and the world would be a happier place  :-+

Keep up the good work !

Barry, you should look at automatic stock levels more frequently if you can.
If you ever have a run on a product it will result many unsatisfied customers.
You would be surprised the time it takes to deal with customer queries and the loss of goodwill,  it adds up.
