[Wanted] Salvaged Heatsinks for cheap
« on: April 28, 2018, 03:50:06 am »
I'm doing a lot more experimentation with high power electronics lately, and for my tinkering, I don't have any sizable heatsinks. I'm looking for anyone who would be willing to part with some salvaged heatsinks in their collection of scrap parts, I'm new to electronics so I haven't done much salvaging.

Anything that's cheap and you can supply several different sizes I'm willing to buy. I'm located in the USA.

Thanks,
Bobert

I'm looking for anyone who would be willing to part with some salvaged heatsinks.

The nearest metal scrapyard or PC repair stores are a good source, also shower and solar panel installers.

Try find information on local contractors that work on cellular base station towers, technology refresh usually yielded lots of cool stuffs.

Example what I scored, these are salvaged from old 1st gen GSM BTSes, shot with transistors as reference size.

Perfect, sizes like those are nice. The ones with the completely flat backside (e.g. where you could mount a peltier) are best suited for my needs.

I've got an uncle that works on cell towers for Verizon, I'll get in touch with him and see if he can keep a look out. Those kinds with the flat base and the fins going out only forward are ideally what I'm looking for.

Salvaged these from some old audio equipment. Was planning to find a use for them, but they've just been sitting around for several years now so should probably give up since I still don't have any definite plans. Let me know if interested, you can have for shipping.
