Estate sale on E-bay that might be of interest
« on: June 24, 2015, 12:14:50 am »
Hi Guys / Gals,

Came across this one last night in my normal e-bay searching. Lots of goodies with very minimal activity on them and low starting prices. It is a estate sale and they don't know what they are and are trying to sell them. I wish my wallet was fuller than it is at the moment. Maybe some of you can get a good deal.

There is some Systron Donner, HP, Fluke, EDC and Valhalla items for sale.

The EDC reference looks good, has 22 bids on it and is still at a good price, that will probably shoot up in price towards the end.

That's a new item. Don't think it was there last night

Postage in the USA alone is also high...... Must be a lot of heavy stuff there.

I bid on the current calibrator. This thing will weigh a ton.

I was the first bidder on the current calibrator. I'm not bidding on that anymore so unless someone else starts bidding, you've got it for a good deal. Please post in here if you won and when you get it.

I just won the edc voltage source. Fingers crossed it is still in spec

You got a pretty good deal on the EDC. If I do win it, you better expect a teardown, though I will need to get a manual :(.

Vgkid,

I just realised there was a current calibrator and a current source. Which one are you bidding on? I had bid on the black Valhalla one. The North Hills one looks like a serious bit of kit.

The North Hills one, hence it weighing a ton.

Very nice. Fingers crossed for you.

I'll post some pics of the edc unit when I get it. I can't find anything useful online about that model so I'm glad the manual comes with it.

The good thing about Krohn Hite is that they still have a bunch of the edc manuals availlable for download. You just have to send them an email.

They have a huge list on their website of the old edc gear, but none of these ones. If this didn't come with a manual I would shoot them a email. I've heard their service is second to none.

I won the beast, unfortunately at 4x+ my initial bid.
I just hope I can get to it before anyone else in my family sees it when it is delivered. It will have to live hidden in the garage...

I saw it jumped up in price a fair bit. Hopefully still a worthy purchase for you. The edc standard had been shipped so it will probably be a couple of weeks before I get my hands on it.

I'm just hoping that it works "correctly".
Definetly looking forward to tearing it down, thanks to this...

Thanks again for posting this auction. Scored the HP 741B AC-DC Differential Voltmeter/DC Standard. I just hope the triax AC probe is still good. Teardown coming.

Wonder why the current unit had a reference oven in it. I did notice that in the listing photos but don't know enough about the inner workings to know why it would be there.

No problems about posting the links. I'm glad a few of you got some good gear. It is also good to see the equipment going to good homes and I get to see some teardowns. If you do put up a separate post of the teardown, can you put a link in here to it?

Glad you posted the links.
do post a teardown of the 741 im interested in comparing it to your 735 standard.
The reason for the reference oven is that the zener is heated to a constant temperature by an oven, I will have to figure out the resistor oven...

They'll want it for themselves?  Interesting family ;)

I wish...
More along the lines of "If you get any more junk, you are going to have to move out" :(

Or you could unload some of it on ebay. That's what I'm going to do with the stuff I've been accumulating, just as soon as I fix what I can fix and decide what to keep...

I've planned to offload some of the gear that I don't use that much anymore, or have bought and then fixed. The problem is I can't bring myself to part with it.

I just bought a manual for it. The serial number for the calibrator is in the 47x range.
