Nice puppy, sadly I have a Hakko FR802. I always wanted to test the HCT2-120 out. Were you happy with it?

It's HCT2-120, not 210 but whatever. HCT2-120 is no good as the only hot air station you have. Viable only if you want a small tool for small components on PCBs without high thermal mass in addition to a more powerful station (which you already have).

OK, so it can do a smaller range of jobs than a bigger iron, but what's the advantages of using a reflow iron like this for its special purpose over a larger, more general reflow iron with airflow turned down?

Is it just the reduced size and weight of the handpiece and tube? or does it have any other pluses for the jobs its designed for?

Sorry, title and description corrected. Obviously a typo, no point trying to fool anyone with such a big picture of the front of the unit  |O.

The station is not ultra-powerfull, it is not meant to be. The nozzles are quite small and airflow/temp control quite precise. As Blueskull says, this station is designed for delicate work, and it does it very well.

When you need high quality (IPC/MIL/etc. standard certified) repair. Small nozzle, fast heating results in localized reflow, so other parts are not reflown.

Aah, that seems fair enough.

I do OK as far as keeping heat in one place with my quick 861(with extra small nozzles, bought separately) it's not common that I reflow multiple parts when I'm focussing on just one. (though tightly placed 0402s can..)  But it's a pretty bulky handpiece, and the general handling of it gets a bit tiring.

If I was reworking lots of little parts I'd definitely like something like this one.
