Not unless you modify the probe's power supply
(it wants 4V if I recall correctly and the 6000-series has the new interface that can only provide 5V)

Nice scope,

using the scope with java/VNC inside a browser is tricky as most browsers do not accept java as plugin anymore.

if this is solved - really a fine instrument

It can be solved easily, its called OS encapsulation, aka virtual machine.  :P

I shall install a VM to use an outdated browser to use a oscilloscope via LAN? Really?

Well, sounds a little bit to complicated for me... (I tried but... no luck as I had no older java and to register at oracle just to download an older... no)

The guy who found an easier way or I will post a how too in the next days :-)

Unfortunately I will be in USA for the next two months so I don't k own if I will have time to play enough with this new toy.

Here my game plan:
- use RealVNC
- external monitor, raspberry pi to control somehow?
- use an old  XP laptop i have under my desk

just register on Oracle's website with a throwaway email, download the older java and modify the security settings like you would for any other popup/trusted site.

Once that's done it's really not so much of a problem, and I even just placed a shortcut on the desktop to go straight to the vnc session:
Code: [Select]
"%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" "http://192.168.1.203/remoteFrontPanel.html"
I'm sure there are other solutions but this one worked for me (the PI thing sounds cool,  the scope has USB too so I see no reason why it shouldn't be possible to write some small program that replaces the missing front panel)

It sounds complicated, but if you have any experience with VMs it's really not. Having a perfectly controlled and isolated environment to run outdated software, which can be modularly added or removed is pretty much ideal. With some care you can do things that would normally be quite risky without consequences for the rest of your infrastructure.
