Wow you guys in the EU get hosed. This isn't an insult to you mikgntl, I'm sure its a fair price for EU members. I'm just amazed at the large price difference between here and the EU.

Example right from fluke direct

http://cdn.fluke-direct.com/shop/itemDetail.do?itm_id=154815&itm_index=0&item=87-5-KIT&manufacturer=Fluke

You can get the Fluke 87-5 for £420 from most retailers in the UK, so it's the same price.

399.00£ + VAT (479£) at farnell UK. Unfortunately 1£ = 1.56USD = 1.82CAD. Not exactly the same!

  • I like to measure things.
Yes, they tend to do that, take the price for the US market, and put a € or £ next to it.
The FLIR E4 is priced just like that: $995 in USA, 995€ in Europe.
<fellbuendel> it's arduino, you're not supposed to know anything about what you're doing
<fellbuendel> if you knew, you wouldn't be using it

That's only different if you're trading currencies. Within your own country, your dollar should get you roughly the same as what one pound would get us here, and roughly what one euro would get you in Europe. So a Starbucks Latte probably cost around $2.50, and it costs us £2.50 here...

Yes, a good deal, despite the old version (at least 3/4 years old).

LATEST REVISION as you can see from the serial number (25450252) and the box contents.
Do you know, what was updated in the meter with the latest revision?
And how did you notice, that the one on eBay Germany was 3/4 year old?

Package contents... The printed manual is not included anymore in the box. Last time I saw it was 3/4 years ago.
Probably there is no HW/FW difference, just old lot.
