+1 from me to say 'thanks' to Mark for his help and advice on some new toys from JBC which arrived yesterday.

My new 2 tool DDE controller is a lovely bit of kit, and I'm looking forward to the tweezers to go along with the T210 iron and stand just as soon as they're back in stock.

He rocks up and makes 5 consecutive posts that are adverts. Sorry, that is blatant spam. If it were not for Andy_C's high post count I would assumud he was a sock puppet account.

Weird for this to suddenly pop up and become an issue a couple of months after the event. Did something happen recently?

You'd be quite wrong. I presume you've at least looked up who the company is, what they sell, and to whom?

I picked up his company's catalogue at the last Southern Manufacturing show, and a couple of months ago he did me a good deal on some new equipment for my business - none of which had anything to do with EEVblog. The timing was pure coincidence.

Nevertheless, given that the whole reason why internet forums exist is for people with common interests to share information and experiences, I posted about it. After all, I can't believe I'm the only person on the site who ever wants to buy soldering equipment.

And I'm sure he paid an arm and a leg to have a stand at that show. Advertising costs money and Dave is no different. If he's that keen he needs to get in touch with Dave and sort something out not come here and just spam the forum out of the blue. I take it that as a serious business he has email accounts @his-url but he registered under a Gmail account, can't possibly think why ;)

Hi Simon,

I was the one to suggest Mark to post special offers here - so I'm sorry if you feel bad about that. But what is the difference to all the other companies who do the same ? I can mention quite a few that do not get flagged for giving EEVblog members extra discounts. MCS and where ever else Joy works are "frequent" posters and I have not seem them get kicked in the b*lls?

Yes I agree Kaisertech can buy adverts as well - but Mark started out selling some ex demo stuff and I suggested he made an EEV blog discount code. I have bought from Mark and it was all a good experience from my point of view.

So again sorry if I have stepped on toes or my suggestion to Mark has agitated you or Dave.

Well I can only act on the ones I am made aware of. 5 posts in a row all advertising are not really expected use of the forum. I may close an eye to one dropped in the buy/sell section.

There seems to be the expectation that if the advertiser gives a code "exclusive" to the forum users it's all right. Not really, anyone not a member can still get this code and the exclusivity of it is limited to anyone that happens across the page.

I have not seen posts anywhere else - and I agree if there has been cross posting that Mark stepped over the line. But he is a very reasonable guy - so give him a warning :) and delete the cross posts. And then send him a link with the rate-card :)

i deleted the other 4. I don't have a "price card". I am just a moderator. For anything else people need to speak to Dave.
