Maybe the shipper mishandled it, or maybe the seller didn't pack it well. Things that make you go, "hmmm".

Building a nice wood cabinet for it would be a cool project, but (1) who knows how it'll be packed the second time and (2) what else is missing/wrong with it.

True, but you get quite a substantial discount. And if it arrived even more damaged, you could return/refund it. Does not seem a terrible offer if you are looking for that scope and do not mind the risk and mechanical work.

I agree. This listing doesn't paint a positive picture of the seller's packaging skills! I've seen boxes getting damaged in transport but with enough padding the contents always surivived.

Perhaps it wasn't a popular model? If it was a Tek, it'd be gone before we could even have a chance to make a thread about it.

If I lived in the 'states I might well have bought this as I have a case in which there is a gutted LeCroy so it would have been a perfect match for a LeCroy in a gutted case.....

I contemplated buying it even though I live in the UK but I did n;t think it would survive the journey in its current state and the postage was rather high (inevitable, given the weight of these things).

I'm glad I didn't though as the seller seems less than totally transparent about its state (and I didn't realise that the damage was due to his poor  packing in the first place).
