Oscilloscope in Australia
« on: July 06, 2015, 10:19:07 am »
Just thought I'd ask if anyone in Australia has a scope they'd be willing to part with or sell me as I'm finding it hard to save up enough money to buy a new one at the moment due to a horrible string of bad luck I've been having lately..
I just thought I'd ask on the off chance
Regards,
Matt

I've got a Rigol DS1052E in nearly new condition, still in box.

PM me if that interests you.  Perhaps it's time I upgrade to a DS1054Z.

I've only got about a $200 budget at the moment so I think I'll just have to keep saving for awhile sadly

That will easily get you an old analog scope. Are you after something specific? DSO etc?

Talk to your local unis and see how nice the staff are.  Some have CRO's they don't use anymore and are going to discard.

I actually spoke to my local uni a few days ago while I was enrolling to study engineering next year but they didn't have anything unfortunately
I'm pretty poor but I guess I'll keep on saving as I really want a DSO and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait

I would say get 1 of these
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hantek-DSO5072P-Digital-Oscilloscope-70MHz-1GSa-s-2CH-40K-7-TFT-signal-waveform-/121089632989?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c31812add
for the price but for sure sparing some more buck and getting a
rigol ds1054z is way better since the quality and evrything else.

Who did you talk to?  If you can find the people that maintain the labs then they're the most likely to actually know about old equipment on hand.
