WTB: Tektronix 1A4 Plug-In
« on: November 30, 2017, 06:03:30 am »
On the hunt for a Tektronix 1A4 oscilloscope plugin. Have the 1A1 but it'd be nice to have 2 more channels :)

A 555 or 556 mainframe would also give you two more channels.  1A4 plug-ins are pretty common so it should not be difficult to find one.

I’d love a 556

Well, 1A4s are more common than 556s and very much easier to ship.

I have a 545A, 547, two CAs, and a 1A1.

I can only suggest keeping an eye on Craigslist, Ebay, and maybe any electronics swap meets.

I’d love a 556

A true Dual Beam like the 555, 556 have 2 slots, so that will wake up the interesting to plug there 2x 1A4 to get 8 glowing channels  ;D
! the 555 is a extremly hot working scope, there can be a high temperature in the slots also, not good for plugins what use a lot of germaniums.

1A4 is only relevant for the faster scopes Tek 547 and Tek556, may be 549 storage, the slower Types (53x, 54x) can use a plugin "M" to get 4 channels.

greetings
Martin

Indeed I have a 547 so a 1A4 would be desirable to keep the full bandwidth.

I'm purging the last of my Tek 500-series pile, including a 1A4. It came to me in a 531A, my first "lab-grade" scope as a teenager (and boy, was I excited to have four channels). It's been through a lot and is pretty grimy (never got wet). It was working when the 531A died about 15 years ago, but no guarantees.

Yours for the cost of shipping. (Makes it something of a booby prize.) PM me for details.

For any Tek aficionados able to pick up from Austin, TX, I have more where that came from:

* 531A (parts only)
* 547 (condition unknown)
* Full PSU from a 555
* 1L20 spec-an plugin (condition unknown)
* Awesome tilting Scope-mobile
* Less awesome fixed Scope-mobile
* Gigantic Kepco (605?) power supplies (various problems)
* Other goodies

PM for details.
