That is the one EBay have replaced it with since the other listing is no longer available - ebay seem to do this now-a-days and it is quite confusing when I go and look at auctions I've been watching and have just finished.

You'll get the 3478A from a different seller. I dunno.

Yeah, its an extremely annoying "feature." At the top, it says, "The listing you’re looking for is no longer available. Check out this similar item we found for you." You then have to click on the word "listing" to get to the correct item.

A similar behavior started with the "View relisted item" button. Instead of going to the listing for the relisted item, it would first go to the listing page of the ended item. Another click is required to get to where the button was supposed to take you. Grrr!

I like how a listing for a Fluke 289 that ended gets replaced by some cheap junky Chinese DMM. Yes eBay, that's exactly the alternative I'm looking for.

It makes looking back at similar items to gauge the market also a pain.

See a few posts earlier. Going to the URL of an ended listing auto-forwards to a "similar" (using the term very loosely) active listing instead of the one you requested. It's a new "feature."

Apparently, it wasn't good enough that they spammed you with two rows of current listing thumbnails at the top of an ended listing page. Now, they instead force you to look at an active listing page instead. If you really want to see that old listing, you have to click another link, if you happen to see it.

You know your auction platform's sales are bad when you have to resort to tricking your buyers into looking at your inventory.

This would have been nabbed by someone who searched for the exact thing at the exact right time after it was posted, and knew what it was worth... probably not a reseller (unless resellers run bots that sit there clicking on their favourite searches every 5 minutes, all day?)

They do, in a way. Ebay has saved searches that will alert you when something matching it is posted. It's not exclusively used by resellers but most resellers are going to be making use of them.

Yeah, but those alerts are only sent out daily, not moments after something is listed. eBay somewhat randomizes the time of day they're sent out, so as not to favor certain recipients.

There are third-party scanners that will show you new eBay listings whose titles have specific keywords/phrases. I used to use one that ran in the background and popped up for a new listing that matched. Haven't used it in a while, though. You'll end up looking at a lot of stuff you don't want in order to get one that you do
