Is this even worth it? 10 kHz test frequency vs 100 kHz for the cheaper DE-5000.

Keysight wouldn't sell many LCR meters if everyone thought the same :)

Keysight isn't selling this obsolete meter anymore, and I don't know if the DE-5000 was competing on the market at the same time as the Agilent unit. I don't care much for the brand name premium, just wondering if there is justification from a capabilities / reliability point of view.

The U1732C is the current equivalent model and still has a max test frequency of 10kHz. Although the C version has better specs than the B, there's a big price difference given the production status, of course. So, for someone who wants an HPAK and doesn't need 100kHz, this listing is a good deal.

The DE-5000, spec-wise, is closer to the U1733C (there was no B). For absolute accuracy, the DE-5000 and U1733C trade off depending on mode and range being compared. However, the U1733C also has more ranges. So, if you need 100kHz, but not all the ranges and brand of the U1733C, get the DE-5000 for the best bang-for-the-buck.

Since the brand isn't important for you, get the DE-5000.

As for reliability, I haven't really heard horror stories about either. They've been around a while.
