Wanted: recording chart rolls (not actually anymore )
« on: October 01, 2014, 07:03:44 pm »
Hi, I've got a HP-7155B chart recorder.
I need one or some recording chart rolls for it.
It measure 160 mm x 21m

Any Ideas where I could get such rolls?

Also needed would be some new pens.  But it is not important

May be I could organize a production, downside is it's a lot of 25 which is a way to much for me alone.
Is there any interest in one or two rolls?

You might try various biotech and lab supply websites. Chart recorders are still used with some regularity in these industries, though digital is slowly replacing them. Unfortunately, outside of these industries nobody cares nor wants a paper chart recorder.

What pens does it use? I took apart a chart recorder recently, and this uses a thermal pen that draws on plain thermal paper. I did a test of it using a cut down roll of thermal fax paper, which worked well enough. Still have the meters and pens, with the 3R pots used to set the density ( or the amount it cooks the paper) in a box.

The HP ParNo: 07155-60014; 07155-60015 They are ink filled one way pens.
I'm just experimenting how to refill them....
But main Problem is the paper

I have a nice Japanese-made Sekonic dual-pen chart recorder. It has some mechanical problems, including two plastic gears that split, and broken-off buttons. I'd like to get it going eventually, so will need paper rolls.

But the paper is a different width to your HP 7155B I think. Mine needs paper 265mm between pins.  With 10mm hole spacing.

There are some things for which a physical, permanent record is much preferable. Not all that many, but some.

I got them with 2 chart servo plotter machines.

I have a 7155 too and no pen : I am looking for one (refill ?) and/or precise dimensions to build an adapter allowing to snap an actual manufactured pen into the holder or to build a fully new holder. Perhaps a good project for a 3D printer. This pen was manufactured for HP under licence (with uncommon specs)  and therefore there is no actual manufacturer. For the paper, it is still manufactured on request (in Europe, in cm) but the minimum amount of order is 25 rolls, the number I have still because no pen... I have spent a big lot of time on this topic. Idea of swap between rolls and pens ???

jfphp and me managed a deal to exchange our stuff. Now we both do have an additional working equipment!
So this thread can be considered as solved from my side of view at least.  :-+
