As my old, self-build (yes, it has a 2N3055) and trusty 25+ year old PSU finally failed on me**. I'm looking for a usable bench PSU with the following parameters:

2x 24V 2A (actually 2x 30V would be preferred)
1x 5V 1A
GPIB/LAN remote controlling not really required, but would be nice.

Please: No Ebay, as I don't like PayPal.

**The repair is probably simple, but I really want something better now.

Can you post a schematic about your self-made PSU? I designed my own but didn't build it yet, so I would like to see your design method and choices.

I don't have the schematics any more. But this one looks like it could be identical to the one I have: http://www.meis.lu/Regelbares_Netzteil_/_Alimentation_ajustable. It came as a Kit and to my surprise I soldered the stuff reasonable well (I just checked the PCB).

It seemed to work very well and probably I would only need to replace the Mica sheet of the 2N3055 as it seems there is a short from there to the Earth terminal. I had the same issue already once a couple of years before.

@zucca,
you shouldn't have told me that! I had known that my old one is defect since two days. I only had today enough time to see what's going on in there.  |O

@TopLoser: Yes that Instek (gone now???) looked nice, especially for the price. But again the PP-only is the problem here.

I understand that the PP provides some security (in theory). But I heard too much negative news of this Bank (like freezing money for no reason and try to force US laws in Europe: Preventing a shop to sell Cuban cigars). And this is nothing I want to support.

Yes Instek sold very quickly.

I have about £2000 frozen by PayPal right now, it's normal and I understand why they do it.

Even if for you PayPal is terrible, the fact TopLoser is doing business with it should change your mind about PayPal.
For me as long TopLoser is active in this town, PayPal becomes just awesome.
Back with feet on earth now, those are good deals... go for it. You can trust TopLoser is here a well known and trusted seller.

PS: I also smashing my head against the monitor for the GPD-4303S, I just missed it. Oh well something in the future will surely pop up again.

@zucca: That's exactly the reason not to support them. You see they holding £2000 not accessible to him. They are a Bank registered in Luxenbourg. They have to follow rules the same way like other banks. How about your bank freezes your cash until you provided some information they should already have? And a few moths later they do the same again?

But I think we're going off-topic now.

I do not want to turn this in a paypal discussion, but the "risk" of paypal is typical for the seller, not the buyer.

As a seller your money is blocked untill the buyer confirms all is wel. Corrupt buyers can claim item it broken/not received/etc, and in many cases the seller has a difficult time getting his money.  But as a buyer, it offers you a good protection (not that you need that with toplooser off course)... So for me paypall is a plus as a buyer
