WTB [EU] : Rigol DS1052E
« on: May 08, 2016, 01:20:47 pm »
Hello!
I am an electronic engineering student and I want to buy an oscilloscope, specifically a RIGOL DS1052E.
Unfortunately I only have 200$ to spare, I hope it is enough.
I would have gladly bought a used analog scope from germany, there are plenty, but as a student living in a dorm room with 3 other students, I don't have enough room for one and it is hard to carry it with me when I go home, which is 300km away, a DS1052E would fit in my backpack if needed.

TL:DR If anyone wants to sell his/her RIGOL DS1052E for 200$, contact me.
Thank you!  :)

The backpack I use is quite large, it will fit no prob.

I have though about a cheap usb scope like the hantek but I don't like that they are laggy and the software is not that great.

Don't forget shipping and the eventual import tax.  :)

I did a bit of calculating for fun.
If I where to sell you my DS1052E, and all you have is 200$.

Import tax in Romania seems to be 20%
So 200$ -20% = 166.66$
Shipping would add up to 53.71$
Meaning I would have to sell it for 112.95$ to not break your 200$ mark.

... And that's still more expensive than what I payd for my 1052.

Yeah I thought 200$ sounded way high at first.
I was hoping to get about 100€ for mine when I upgrade to the DS1054Z. (not for another couple of months though)
Shipping across borders get expensive fast.

Sorry for misunderstanding.
The EU in the title =/= all of Europe, but European Union, so no Import Tax.
Maybe Finland has some special arrangements about the import/export stuff regarding the EU, I don't know. I only dealt with UK, Germany and Austria until now and didn't pay any import duties.

Also, If anyone has a 1052 and is from Germany and doesn't want to ship outside of the country, I have a friend there and maybe we could find a way.

It was more of a word of caution :)
I live in the EU, but this particular part of Finland stands outside EU's tax rules, thus import tax on everything so I'm used to it.
Just saying that if your total budget is 200$, you need to account for shipping and eventual import when buying, or you'll get a nasty surprise.
You could get mine for 200$ flat. Shipping and import included. But I need it for a few more months. (Getting married next month so my fun-stuff-account is suspended)

I don't know your needs, but if you could scrounge up the extra cash I'd say it's worth it.

A new DS1052E is not that much cheaper.

If I do not find anything else we'll see. Until then, I wish you a happy marriage and that you and your other half will have a long and happy life together.

I know about batronix and the DS1054Z, but after tax it is about double my current budget. I'm not in a hurry though, so who knows.

Thank you!  :)

Try this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201579028903
It's still within your mark if Germany is import-free.
Do not go over 165€ or you'll be breaking your limit.

I wouldn't go over 150€ unless I needed it yesterday.
Hopefully someone closer has one to spare for less money, but options are always good.

I'm actually watching that listing since yesterday. This one is great, perfect actually as shipping from Germany with DHL is fairly cheap to Romania, but since this morning the price went up from 70euros to 120, and there are still 5 days more to go. The only problem I have is that there are no real pictures, but the deal is done with ebay so it's hard to get scammed.

And thank you for your help :) . There is also this one that is quite nice, but it will just sit unused until I go home once a month or in a vacation.

That's weird. Don't mind to say where it is? Want to read about this, but cannot find anything.
EDIT: I remember something like this about a few overseas territories of some EU country (or countries) which were not under EU jurisdiction. But it wasn't like inside the country itself.

It's Åland Islands.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%85land_Islands#Economy

It's within EU, but the VAT-rules are different to allow tax-free on the ferries.
