WTB [UK/EU]: Rotary switch contacts for Fluke 87 III [obtained]
« on: October 22, 2017, 11:07:43 pm »
Following the restoration of a Fluke 89 IV by stealing the selector switch contacts from a then broken Fluke 87 III, I am now trying to restore the 87 III.
And all is looking good with the repair but I now need the contacts.

Any chance anyone has spare contacts for the rotary selector switch from a Fluke 87 III?

They look like this (picture once again linked from the nice and useful site of Mr. ModemHead):

Thank you!

Did you call "the guys?

http://www.fluke.com/fluke/inen/support/replacementparts/default

No.
Since I wasn't that successful sourcing similar contacts for the 89 IV model from "the guys", I am thinking it's even less likely they would have such contacts for the 87 III model.
I think I might have better luck someone on the forum here having a broken 87 III that they use for parts.

Outside the US, replacement parts can be ordered through your local service center.

My experience of the UK service centre is that it won't happen. They appear friendly and willing but just pass the buck until you give up.

Giving it one last try: anyone with a broken Fluke 87 III  or 89 IV or 1/289 or other model with equivalent rotary contacts?
I'd like to bring back the 87 III which is sorely missing its contacts...

Hello,
I have two contacts that I can spare.  The cost to get them was dear but ultimately worth it to me.  I was going to put them up on a favorite auction site.  I would need $17 each plus shipping just to break even on a pro-rata basis.  The are so small I would think i could just mail them in a envelope from the US.  I only have two however...

Hi there,

Thank you for the offer!
Unfortunately, that wouldn't work for me, both cost-wise and considering I would still need another contact.

I'll have a rummage through my box of old multimeter bits and see what I can find.

Won't be until Wednesday at the earliest

Just to update this thread: thanks to the really kind offer from KJDS, I now have a complete Fluke 89 IV (including a tilting bail I didn't have) and will soon put back together the Fluke 87 III whose contacts I had stolen (to use with my 89 IV).

Kudos to KJDS!  :-+
