WTB: Any Old Test Equipment (US)
« on: August 16, 2018, 01:09:11 am »
I am a young hobby electrical engineer who has some very basic tools but is wanting to branch out into some more analog electronics. I am looking for basic test equipment that anyone has lying around for very cheap or free. Some ideas are an analog oscilloscope, electronic load, benchtop multimeter, or really anything. If you have any tips or suggestions feel free to leave them below and help me out!

Thanks!!  :)

Approximate location would be useful, the US is a big place and the cost of shipping an old boatanchor (which is what you're likely to get offers for) can easily exceed the value of the gear.

Look in your area for Hamfests.  You can find some good prices there.  A few years ago, I paid $45 for a Tektronix 2235 scope that just needed switch and attenuator cleaning.

If you post your location, someone may be able to suggest some local swap meets where you might find a deal on some old gear. As was already mentioned, shipping is often more expensive than the equipment is worth, it has gotten very expensive over the last 15 years or so. Stuff I used to be able to ship for ~$15 can now cost almost $50.
