WTB: components storage drawer cabinet
« on: January 30, 2015, 10:03:01 pm »
 Hello,
As I am getting more and more into electronics, I find the masses of components building up; therefore, I now need some storage cabinets, preferably with long, thin drawers, of which it has 40+. I'm looking for something from £10-20 if that is feasible. The cheapest eBay solution that fulfilled my requirement was ~£30, and the reviews were not good for the build quality. If anyone has any lying around, I'd be most grateful.
Regards,
Jack

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/44-drawer-organizer-storage-cabinet-dimensions-510-x-307-x-147mm-nd82d

I bought five of those exact units from Farnell (1367091) a few weeks ago. They aren't bad, metal sides so sturdy, but slightly irritating is that there's a lip just above each drawer so it doesn't take much for parts to get caught up especially if stored in folded bags in the drawers. They are not unique in that regard though. Not bad value. They're slowly getting filled.

Don't buy 'em from Maplin. Their idea of packaging is shoving it in the thinnest box they can find and letting the Royal Fail play football with it.

Ponder how I know about their packaging of those specific items.

Buy them from Farnell, or pretty much anybody but Maplin.

Oh ok so you would recommend the actual unit, just not the seller.

I think the point is that is may not survive posting in the Maplin packaging.
If there is a Maplin store near you then getting one in person means you know you get one without damage.

I have one of these, got it with the great intention of sorting parts into some logical order... yea that worked out well for me   ::)

Bear in mind You can probably buy some cheap ones for not much more than the cost of the petrol...

That's true, and probably the more likely to happen in the near future TBH. Thanks for the offer in any case.
