WTB: Digital Oscilloscope DSO - FOUND
« on: March 20, 2019, 11:41:47 pm »
Hi I'm looking for my first oscilloscope. Was hoping to find a Rigol DS1054Z, but would settle for something else less expensive also. Aiming for $150-$300. Thanks.

Tequipment is showing some "B" stock available (opened/returned units) for $347. They offer a discount to EEV Blog members and free shipping. That would put them close to your budget with a full mfg warranty. Certainly don't let $25 get between you and a good/current scope.

Thanks for the tip. You are referring to the DS1054Z? I can get a new one from saelig.com using the EEVBlog discount code for $352.  I might buy that if I can't find anything else. I try to buy most of my stuff used.

I'd be happy with something like a Siglent SDS 1102CML for $200.

SDS1102CML+ is $ 299 and a reasonable DSO too but pales into past technologies compared to the current offerings.
I got some in for guys like you that don't want to spend much when once they were my best seller now the SDS1202X-E has that spot.

Thanks. Ok the new price is $299, I was suggesting a used one might be had for $200. I'm much happier at that price point, for how much I will probably use it (not a lot after this project).

An older second hand SDS1102CML (no plus) might be a bit cheaper. It doesn't have the higher res display or LAN like Plus models.
Still it can do USB screenshots but in larger BMP format not tiny PNG's like the X-E models.
Older CML's had RS232 I/O.

Well I just ordered a Rigol DS1054Z from Saelig. I discovered there are command line tools that let you do cool things with the DS1054Z (take screenshots remotely for example), that sealed the deal on this model. Didn't want to wait around for a used one anymore, and the EEVblog discount code made this not much more than a used one anyway.  :D

as far as programming is concerned, if you have the time and skill, soon you'll discover many more than that, the only limit is your imagination... btw i thought the opposite of "SOLD" is "BOUGHT" just saying ;)
