WTB Sperry/Beckman/Babcock SP-334 display
« on: June 27, 2017, 10:07:32 pm »
Hi,

I'm just wondering if someone might have a solitary SP-334 Panaplex display kicking around, I need a spare for one of my old Datron meters.

The SP-334 is a  +/-188  (2 1/2 digit with polarity) format,  0.3" character height display.

I've tried ebay and the the Sphere site, but none to be seen. I'm UK based but open to offers from further afield.

Many thanks,

Chris.

334s you say... if my memory serves, I got some 332s. I'll go check to see if there some 334s on the bottom of the box.

Cheers!

If we learn from our mistakes then I reckon I'm getting a great education!

I guess that's probably a 'none found' then.

Thanks for looking Ghydda, I appreciate you trying. :)

Hi Gyro, well the box wasn't quite where I thought it was |O so I needed to have good thinking about it :=\ before I found my way to the right corner of my pile of junk.
As the picture tells, it wasn't 334s on the bottom, but rather 333s, which lay alongside the 332s.
The one pictured is a Beckman, but i have also a 333 from Babcock. Why do I always smile whenever I think of that name.

Let me know if you fancy one.

Cheers!

Hi Ghydda. Thanks very much for delving into the dark corners (hopefully you discovered some long forgotten treasures in the process).

I've actually pressed a 333 into service at the moment, bodging the board so that the leading digit becomes a rather compressed '-1' display, but I am trying to restore the proper +/-1 functionality that the 334 provided.

The SP-334 looks about the least used of all the models, only really useful for compact 5 1/2 digits  DVMs (in combination with a 333). Normally those would use the larger 0.5" displays.

I have a couple of 333s in hand, so it's probably not worth putting you to (more!) trouble but thanks very much for the offer.  :)

Cheers,
Chris

Hi everyone, I'm repairing a Wandel Goltermann model ps-12 level generator which has failed one of the displays (sperry or beckman sp-332). Someone would have a replacement part available to negotiate or I would know where I could find, I tried the sphere in Canada, however someone came first and already took all, if I do not get one of these, the only way will be replaced by 7 segment led display .

Thanks in advance! Renan

Hello members,
I too am looking for a few Sperry or Babcock SP-332 gas discharge displays.  If anyone has some or knows where to obtain a few, I would truly appreciate a reply.  Thanks.
